COLUMBUS, GEORGIA – A current city employee is to be arrested and a former city employee has been arrested as the result of a 16 month long investigation into the City of Columbus’ finance department, Sheriff Greg Countryman tells WRBL.
According to Countryman, both people are being arrested on misdemeanor charges, none of them involving theft.
That former city employee is Yvonne Ivey, who was arrested on two counts of simple battery. One more arrest is still to come.
According to Lt. Jeremy Hattaway with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, Ivey’s charges stem back to an instance of Ivey allegedly putting hands on an employee between 2017 and 2022.
