A man has been arrested for attempted murder following a shooting outside a convenience store in Opelika on Sunday night.
On Monday afternoon around 3 p.m., Opelika Police and the Lee County SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a home on the 1400 block of Crawford Road. There, they arrested 28-year-old Mykiel Sanchez Holmes on an attempted murder warrant.
Investigators say Holmes shot a 31-year-old man at the Grub Mart on July 20. The two were reportedly acquaintances and had been involved in a previous altercation.
The victim was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital and remains in critical but stable condition.
Holmes was taken to the Lee County Jail.
